Woods Family — Family Portrait Session at Relbia

The Woods Family — Louise, Malcom, Eliza, Jayden, and their adorable new puppy Hoby — welcomed me to their beautiful property in Relbia for a spring family portrait session. It was one of those glorious end-of-winter days where the sun feels like a warm hug after a long, chilly season. The light was dreamy, the vibes were relaxed, and the family was so easygoing that the whole session felt like catching up with old friends.

Meet the Family

Louise and Malcom are the proud parents of two amazing teenagers: Eliza, 14, and Jayden, 12. Their new puppy, Hoby, at just three months old, already has a personality larger than life. What made this session so fun was getting to connect with the teens — I don’t get to photograph them as often, and it’s such a joy to hear their thoughts, dreams, and personalities shine through. And Hoby? Let’s just say he might be one of the best-behaved pups I’ve ever met — he practically posed for the camera himself!

The Session Story

We chose the family property in Relbia for its gorgeous open spaces and that magical spring light that makes Tasmania family photos feel warm and alive. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of laughter — the kids teasing Hoby, Hoby charming everyone with puppy antics, and Malcom and Louise simply soaking it all in.

Teenagers can be tricky to photograph sometimes, but Eliza and Jayden were so engaged, open, and natural. I guided them with gentle prompts and fun challenges, encouraging movement and genuine interactions rather than stiff poses. Hoby’s enthusiasm made for some hilarious moments, and his calmness surprisingly kept the flow smooth. Capturing a family that interacts so authentically is why I love lifestyle family photography in Tasmania — it’s never just a photo, it’s a story.

Artwork Choice

Louise and Malcom chose a stunning collection of 9 canvases to display around their home, capturing their family in different moments of joy and connection. Alongside this, they opted for my digital file package, ensuring they have access to every image from their session — a true treasure trove of memories. Canvas wall art in Launceston has never looked so good!
