The Agwu Family — Family Portrait Session at Trevallyn Nature Reserve
Some sessions are slow and relaxed, others are quick and full of momentum — and the Agwu family session definitely fell into the second category (in the best possible way). Photographed on Saturday the 1st of November at Trevallyn Nature Reserve, this was a short but super sweet family portrait session that proves you don’t need hours to create beautiful, meaningful images when everything comes together just right.
Angela and Chika brought along their three gorgeous kids — Adora, Axel, and Archie — for their family photography session. With a tight schedule and a flight to catch, the kids absolutely rose to the occasion and were calm, cooperative, and full of personality the entire time. A dream scenario when you’re working against the clock.
We met at the old Huhu Hut site at Trevallyn Nature Reserve. While the hut itself is no longer there after a tree fell on it last year, the surrounding bushland still offers a beautiful, natural backdrop that works perfectly for relaxed family photos.
Because the Agwu family needed to head straight to the airport, we had just 20–30 minutes all up — so this session was all about efficiency without losing connection. We moved quickly through a variety of combinations:
• each child photographed individually
• the kids with Angela
• the kids with Chika
• Angela and Chika together
• and a few different full family variations
Despite the tight timeframe, everything flowed beautifully. The kids listened, smiled, and engaged, which meant we were able to capture a full gallery of images without anyone feeling rushed or stressed.
At their viewing appointment, Angela chose to turn her favourite images into a Vertical Strip Ice Mount, featuring five images from the session. This style of artwork is such a striking way to display family portraits — clean, modern, and timeless.
Vertical strip wall art works beautifully when you want to tell a story across multiple images, and the ice mount finish gives it that polished, professional look that suits modern homes perfectly. Including five images allowed Angela to showcase a mix of individual child portraits and family moments all in one cohesive piece.
I loved how calm and organised this session felt, even with the time pressure. Angela and Chika trusted the process, the kids were amazing, and we were able to create meaningful family portraits without overcomplicating things. It’s a great reminder that with a little planning (and well-behaved kids 😉), even the shortest sessions can deliver beautiful results.
