Family Portrait Photographer in Launceston, Tasmania
Relaxed family portraits for people who want photos that feel like them.
If you’ve been meaning to organise family photos for ages but keep putting it off because life is busy, the kids are unpredictable, or the whole thing feels a bit overwhelming, you’re not alone.
No stiff posing. No pressure for perfect behaviour. Just a calm, guided experience designed to make family photos feel much more doable than you might think.
I photograph families, newborns, and the beautifully chaotic in-between, then help you turn those images into printed artwork for your home.
Family Portraits
The Portrait Experience
You don’t need to have it all figured out before you get in touch.
We start with a planning appointment at the studio, where I’ll talk you through how the whole process works, help you think about the best location or setup for your family, and show you the product options and pricing so there are no surprises later.
After your session, you’ll come back in for your viewing appointment and I’ll help you choose your favourite images and decide what you’d actually like to do with them.
It’s simple, guided, and much less overwhelming than trying to work it all out on your own.
Have a Look at the Gallery
Every family is different, and that’s exactly the point.
Some sessions are at home with a brand new baby. Some are outdoors with toddlers who want to run the whole time. Some include dogs, grandparents, muddy shoes, wild weather, or all of the above.
The gallery will give you a feel for how I photograph real families in a relaxed, natural way.
Printed Artwork for your Home
I’m a big believer that family photos are meant to be seen.
Not left on a phone. Not forgotten on a hard drive. Actually on your walls, in an album, or somewhere your kids can see them every day.
I’ll help you choose from framed prints, canvas wall art, albums, and other printed pieces that suit your home, your family, and your budget.
Meet Sam
I’m a family portrait photographer based in Launceston, and I spend most of my time photographing families with babies, toddlers, and young kids.
I grew up in a photography studio, so this industry has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Before running my own business, I also worked in print production, which is a big part of why I care so much about helping families actually do something with their photos once the session is over.
I know family life can feel full-on. I’m a parent too, which means I’m very comfortable with wriggly kids, changing moods, snack breaks, and plans shifting halfway through. Your session doesn’t need to be perfect to be worth doing.
Commercial Photography
While family portraits are the heart of what I do, I also work with local businesses who need fresh, natural imagery for their brand.
I photograph headshots, branding sessions, events, products and social media content creation in a way that feels relaxed, straightforward, and true to your business.
Kind words
One of the things I hear all the time is that people felt much more comfortable than they expected to.
That matters to me just as much as the final photographs.
