Queenstown, Tasmania
When we decided to go to Queenstown for our first wedding anniversary, it was a no brainer... for us...
Yet Every single person we told about our trip gave us the most puzzled “But Why?”
We had gone to Strahan for a mini honeymoon when we got married in January 2020. Our plan was to go on this miniature honeymoon in January, and then in September when both our jobs were a bit quieter, we’d go to Japan.
And then 2020 happened.
Honestly, at the time of our wedding I naively said the words “we’re not going for another 8 months, I’m sure it will have all died down by then” and so Strahan became the only honeymoon we got, but you know what? It was fantastic we went on the world heritage cruises as well as the West Coast Wilderness Railway. We had booked a full day trip on the railway, from Strahan to Queenstown and back, but before we were due we received an email that the train that is used for the Rack and Pinion was out of service and we had been moved to the half day tour, from Strahan - double barrel and return. We promised that for our 1 year wedding anniversary we would return and do the second half of the journey.
So here we are 1 year into our marriage planning our trip to Queenstown and being met with reviews like “it’s the best place to stay in Queenstown, but I wouldn’t if you have another option” and so we made a decision to finish our van and take it on the road. We’d done overnight trips in it before, but never more than a single night.
We ticked off a lot of things on our bucket list.
